You can preserve your dental capital provided you have good dental hygiene and regularly visit your dental hygienist, who will carry out regular scaling.

Dental plaque accumulates in certain areas of the mouth and mineralises into a solid deposit called tartar, which can only be removed by a professional dental hygienist.

Our dental hygienists provide annual check-ups for all our patients using the modern GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) method developed by the Swiss company EMS (Electro Medical Systems).

What is the GBT method?

The GBT method focuses on eliminating biofilm (bacterial plaque) and tartar while preserving as much dental and gum tissue as possible. It is based on a combination of tools and techniques using advanced technologies, such as:

  1. AirFlow®: Uses a mixture of water, air and soft powder to eliminate biofilm.
  2. PerioFlow®: Specific for deep periodontal pockets.
  3. PIEZON® NO PAIN: A precise and comfortable ultrasonic technology to eliminate harder tartar.

The GBT method in 6 steps

  1. Oral evaluation and diagnosis by the hygienist.
  2. Detection of biofilm with a dye to visualise the areas to be treated.
  3. Explanation and personalised advice.
  4. Elimination of biofilm with AirFlow®. AirFlow® is used to remove biofilm from all dental surfaces. A mixture of water, air and a gentle powder (glycine or erythritol) is projected for a precise and painless cleaning.
  5. Cleaning of periodontal pockets with PerioFlow® (if necessary)
  6. Removal of tartar with PIEZON® NO PAIN

This ultrasonic device is precise, atraumatic and comfortable thanks to controlled vibrations.

How many scalings per year?

All our patients are different. But as a general rule, we recommend 1 to 2 scale and polishes per year. Some older patients are at greater risk than others, so they need to be more vigilant and have more regular check-ups.
